Which Smappee models are supported?

EV Base, EV One and EV Wall, including the EV Wall Business. All of them include a MID-certified meter, which is required for ERE registration.

Why do I have to request API keys myself?

Smappee offers a free personal API where every user gets their own keys, rather than one shared partner connection. That's the route we use. It costs you one email, and after that you never have to think about it again. Don't feel like waiting? Connect via OCPP instead • that works right away.

Joulo only reads your charging data. We never control your charger, and we don't store your Smappee password • only the keys needed to refresh the connection.

Does Joulo see my whole-home energy data?

No. We deliberately filter out Genius and Infinity home monitors during setup and only read the charging stations themselves.

What if I move or replace my charger?

Disconnect Smappee from your Joulo dashboard, then reconnect after installation. Historical sessions stay in your Joulo account.

Does Joulo work with Smappee?

Yes • though whether you can register depends on your model. The EV Base and the current EV Wall (article number EVWC-) and EV One (EVOC-) have a built-in MID meter. The EV Wall Home (EVW-), EV Wall Lite (EVWL-) and EV One Home (EVO-) sold until 2025 do not: they meter to IEC 62053-21, which is not MID. Your article number is on the sticker on your charger. The Smappee Cloud connection is live: you request personal API keys from Smappee once, paste them into your Joulo dashboard, and your charging sessions come in automatically every 15 minutes. Connecting via OCPP 1.6J also works.

Connect Smappee charger to Joulo

Can I connect my Smappee to Joulo for ERE registration? Yes. Smappee EV Base, EV One and EV Wall all include a built-in MID-certified meter • required for ERE. The connection is live. Smappee gives every user their own free API keys, so you request those once from Smappee support and paste them into Joulo. From then on it runs by itself.

What you need

✓A Smappee account linked to your charger
✓A Smappee EV Base, EV One or EV Wall (all include a MID-certified meter)
✓Your personal Smappee API keys (client_id and client_secret), free on request from support@smappee.com

Step-by-step setup

Request your API keys

Email support@smappee.com and ask for personal API access to your own account. You'll receive a client_id and a client_secret. This is free, but it's a manual step at Smappee, so allow a few working days.

Start the connection

In your Joulo dashboard, go to 'Connect charger' and select Smappee.

Enter your details

Paste your client_id and client_secret, and log in with your Smappee account. Joulo stores the keys, never your password.

Select your charger

If you have multiple Smappee service locations, choose the one you want to link to Joulo. Home monitors like Genius and Infinity are filtered out automatically, so you can't accidentally link the wrong device.

Done

Joulo syncs your Smappee sessions automatically every 15 minutes, and backfills your history from 1 January 2026.

What happens next?

Joulo pulls your energy data from the Smappee Cloud every 15 minutes and turns it into complete charging sessions, each registered as an ERE where it qualifies. Your history is picked up back to 1 January 2026, so sessions from before you signed up count too. You don't have to touch anything • payouts are made quarterly.
