    Earn ERE credits with your Alfen charger

    Alfen Eve chargers don't have a cloud API • they connect directly to Joulo via the OCPP protocol. We read your MID meter data and register your home charging sessions as ERE certificates at the NEa. This guide walks you through the complete setup.

    How ERE credits work with Alfen

    Every kWh you charge at home with renewable energy earns you ERE credits. Your Alfen charger's MID meter measures the exact energy usage and sends it to Joulo via OCPP. Joulo registers this at the NEa and you receive your payout • automatically, no paperwork.

    What you need

    • ✓A Joulo account (free registration)
    • ✓A Windows PC with the ACE Service Installer
    • ✓Your PC on the same network as the charger (WiFi or LAN)

    Register your Alfen on Joulo

    Log in to your Joulo account and go to Connect charger. Select Alfen as brand and follow the wizard. At the end you'll receive a WebSocket URL • copy it, you'll need it later.

    Download ACE Service Installer

    The ACE Service Installer is Alfen's configuration tool for Eve chargers. Download it from alfen.com/downloads (free, Windows only).

    Connect to your charger

    Open ACE Service Installer • it will automatically discover Alfen chargers on your local network. If your charger is connected to your home WiFi or router, your PC just needs to be on the same network. A direct LAN cable is only needed if the charger isn't connected to your network yet. Note: ACE requires credentials that can be found on community forums.

    Upload the Joulo root certificate

    Download the Joulo certificate file (.fwi) below. In ACE, go to General → Upload Firmware, select the .fwi file and upload.

    Configure OCPP settings

    In ACE, navigate to the Connectivity tab and configure: Protocol = OCPP 1.6, Security Profile = 0 (default), Back office URL = paste the WebSocket URL from step 1.

    Save and restart

    Click Save, then restart the charger. It will connect to Joulo's OCPP server. Historical session data may take 24-48 hours to appear • Alfen pushes the full history on first connection.
